Guidelines for the Approval of Trainers
by Local ISNA-MSEs and ISNA-MSE International
Important Notice
This document defines the principles, responsibilities and quality standards regarding the approval and accreditation of Snoezelen teachers and trainers by Local ISNA-MSEs and ISNA-MSE International.
Preamble
Snoezelen is a beautiful approach, and the goal is for as many people as possible to experience, use and enjoy it. As Snoezelen is a sensitive multisensory approach for people of all ages, taking into account individual sensory profiles, biographies and preferences, it is essential that it is accompanied by well-trained professionals.
Since Snoezelen is often offered to people with special needs, autism spectrum conditions, dementia, psychological vulnerabilities or emotional difficulties, the quality of training and the competence of trainers are of utmost importance.
Therefore, both the Local ISNA-MSEs and ISNA-MSE International are responsible for maintaining high standards in Snoezelen education and trainer accreditation.
Approval and Accreditation of Trainers
The Local ISNA-MSE has the authority to offer training courses and to accredit new trainers and teachers who meet the criteria established by the Local ISNA-MSE association.
The Local ISNA-MSE may recommend these locally certified trainers, who meet international standards, to the ISNA-MSE Board of Directors for the award of an ISNA-MSE international qualification.
If ISNA-MSE wishes to promote a new trainer for the country of a Local ISNA-MSE, ISNA-MSE must ensure and verify the professional, teaching and personal competences of the person concerned.
The promotion of a new trainer proposed by ISNA-MSE must be carried out in collaboration with the Local ISNA-MSE.
ISNA-MSE may integrate the new trainer into the Local ISNA-MSE. If diplomacy and collaboration do not lead to success, ISNA-MSE may decide to acknowledge the new trainer, as ISNA-MSE International remains the highest authority.
All training programs must follow the ISNA-MSE standards and must receive initial approval and
be renewed every three years.
III. Responsibility of Local ISNA-MSEs
The Local ISNA-MSEs are responsible for the quality and organization of Snoezelen training courses within their respective countries.
Qualification Requirements for Trainers
Further didactical and methodological knowledge, together with practical experience with clients in Snoezelen environments, are necessary and indispensable.
Renewal and Recertification of Trainers
Approved trainers are responsible for applying for the renewal of their ISNA-MSE accreditation every three (3) years through continued professional involvement, ongoing education, and review by the Local ISNA-MSE and/or ISNA-MSE International.
Countries without a Local ISNA-MSE
If there is no Local ISNA-MSE in a country, ISNA-MSE International may directly assign and acknowledge qualified teachers and trainers who comply with ISNA-MSE standards and values.
International Visibility of Trainers
Snoezelen trainers accredited by ISNA-MSE will be listed on the official ISNA-MSE website.
Use of the ISNA-MSE Logo
All trainers accredited by ISNA-MSE are granted permission to use the official ISNA-MSE logo in accordance with ISNA-MSE guidelines.
Clarification regarding Training Certificates
Successfully completing the ISNA-MSE practitioner certificate does not automatically qualify a participant to provide professional training courses. Additional accreditation and approval by a recognized Local ISNA-MSE or by ISNA-MSE International is required.
Final Statement
